Greetings!

New River is a healthy thriving church with disciples of Jesus Christ, who are committed to loving God, loving people and serving the world. As a union of three historic churches in West Philadelphia, we know the power of partnering together to accomplish a work that we cannot achieve on our own.  

Built between 1894 and 1912, our landmark facility has aged over time. Cracked exterior stones have damaged the interior sanctuary, which awaits restoration before it can be used again. With this first phase of the capital campaign, we will be able to repair a portion of the exterior stone and begin the path towards full restoration and renovation of our facilities. Now is the time to act together in faith and begin to renew our building, enhancing our current ministry and creating a foundation that supports New River's mission for generations to come.

This is an exciting journey! Our building will be a sacred space of joyful worship, fellowship, education and service. ​It will also be  a community hub - a safe, vibrant space of welcome and healing for children, seniors and people of every age to gather in East Parkside for programs that help our neighbors and congregation flourish! We will be a community home for artists, educators, healthcare providers, and community groups to offer programs which empower God's people. Our renewed facility will allow us to maximize our ministry, serving more people in more ways.

The first phase of this project will happen through the generous support of our congregation, combined with a matching grant from the Philadelphia Fund for Black Sacred Places.  With God all things are possible!
